father, Don McLaughlin Sr., during the Gensco Pipe Company days in Uvalde, Texas. Together, they co-
founded DKM Enterprises in 2000, building the company from the ground up with a focus on integrity, hard
work, and lasting relationships. Over the past two decades, Don has worked across multiple states to grow
DKM’s footprint in pipeline removal, steel sales, and infrastructure services.
In 2024, Don was elected to represent Texas House District 80, which spans six counties and covers
approximately 6,000 square miles. He won the seat with 60% of the vote and quickly made his mark as a
freshman legislator in 2025, passing seven bills—most notably his signature legislation, House Bill 33 – The
Uvalde Strong Act. Don currently serves on the Agriculture & Livestock Committee as well as the Homeland
Security, Public Safety & Veterans Affairs Committee, where he advocates for rural communities, first
responders, and border security.
Don’s reputation for fairness, straight talk, and results in the pipe business has carried over into his public
service. Prior to the Legislature, he served as Mayor of Uvalde from 2014 to 2024, earning the first-ever four-
year mayoral term in city history. In 2021, he was named Uvaldean of the Year and remains actively involved
in the community as a co-founder of the Cactus Jack Foundation, which raises scholarship funds through events
like the annual Cactus Jack PBR Rodeo.
Now serving in the Texas House, Don has stepped back from DKM’s day-to-day operations, which are directed
by Vice President Steven McNew. However, he remains actively involved in strategy and oversight.
A proud father of two grown sons and a devoted grandfather, Don lives in Uvalde with his wife, Karen.

company was eventually acquired by a major industry provider, and Steven stayed on to help expand
operations, serving in leadership roles with Butch’s Pressure Control and Transcend Drilling. Throughout that
time, he remained involved in the continued growth and development of DKM Enterprises.
Today, Steven helps lead DKM’s day-to-day operations, particularly since Don McLaughlin’s election to the
Texas Legislature. He focuses on aligning DKM’s long-standing reputation for hard work and reliability with a
forward-looking approach to business, sustainability, and customer relationships. With a strong foundation in
operations and business development, Steven values the relationships built with industry partners and the
responsibility of earning and keeping their trust.
Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending time on there ranch in Kinney County, where he enjoys time with his
